What is couch to coach?

Hi… hey…. welcome… I’m honestly not sure how to start - this is a bit new for me and I’ve never done something like this before! I’m Ant, a 33-year-old guy currently living in the beautiful city of Sydney. I’ve decided to start this blog as a way to thoughtfully document my journey over the last few years and the exciting times ahead as I venture boldly into the world of coaching.

For a little backstory, I went through a significant body transformation over the past 3 years, where I successfully lost around 40kg in weight. Throughout this process, I discovered that I don’t actually have a natural moon face – I was just over weight. During those transformative years, I also got married, faced a rather challenging debt crisis, made the move from the UK to Australia, and navigated through many personal ups and downs while doing my best to maintain and improve my overall health. While my physique is the most visible change in me, I have also experienced substantial emotional growth, and although I’m still a work in progress, I’ve developed much better strategies to enhance my mental health.

In this blog, I want to dive deeper and share more about my experiences – including what I was like at the very beginning, the steps I took to make these changes, what methods and practices worked well for me, what didn’t pan out as expected, and the reasons why I am now studying for my Certificate 3 and 4 in personal training.

There is just so much information out there about health and well-being; it can be incredibly overwhelming trying to figure out which advice is truly right for you. Should you go vegan? Should you exclusively eat beef? Will keto or ice baths really solve all your problems? In this space, I will only share what has worked for me personally and the methods I currently employ to maintain and continue to develop both physically and mentally.
